So Friday morning I packed up everything I would need for the day and we headed out. My parents drove and Kinsley and I napped almost the whole way there. My grandma couldn’t believe how much Kinsley had grown since the last time she saw her. I think she has only seen her a total of 4 times. We sat and visited for a while and of course had to feed Miss Priss a baba!! Then my grandma whipped up lunch. Seriously, the woman can cook a meal so fast. When I am cooking it seems like it takes FOREVER!! Grandma made fried catfish, crinkle fries, and hush puppies. It was such a yummy lunch and of course there was dessert. It wouldn’t be grandma’s house if there was no dessert! Homemade PEACH COBBLER and some blue bell ice cream. DELICIOUS!!! After Lunch, Kinsley went down for a nap and my parents and grandparents played a game of crazy 3’s. For those who don’t know, Crazy 3’s is a fun card game my family likes to play. I laid on the couch with Kinsley until she woke up and then it was time for a game of Spinners. This time we all played. Kinsley crawled around my grandma’s kitchen and pulled up on anything and everything she could get her hands on. She definitely put on a show for all of us. My grandma was amazed at how busy my child actually is.
As the afternoon turned in to the evening we decided it was time to head home. We said our good byes and proceeded to get in the truck. We all noticed the smell of something burning and since they live in the country it was no surprise somebody was burning trash of some sort. We got out of the neighborhood and pulled on to the main road and that is when we saw a red Dodge truck in flames. It was not burning trash that we smelled it was this pick up truck. They had the road blocked off until the fire was out so while we waited I decided to hop out and take some pictures. I spoke with a couple that actually was driving behind the truck when it caught on fire. They were not sure how the fire actually started but once the couple came to a stop, they were throwing suitcases and sleeping bags out of the truck that had caught on fire. Not only did it set the truck on fire, the items that were tossed from the truck landed on grass and started a grass fire. We could not believe what we were seeing in this small town of Breckenridge.
As the fire was put out and they started letting cars thru, we were headed home. All we could talk about the 1st hour of the drive was “I wonder what happened” “I wonder where they were going” “That is an awful way to start your weekend” “I hope they were able to get a rental car and get where they were going” “Thank goodness they were able to get out of the car in time”. Then we saw a rainbow. A Rainbow to me is a sign of good luck so I am sure that even though this horrible event had taken place for this couple they were going to get through it. I am just thankful this fire took the truck and not their lives.
Have a Blessed Day,
Laura
PS: Thank you Kinsley for being such a good little traveler on such an eventful day!!
