The Path of Life that lead us where we are today!

So this week my girlfriends and I decided to start a blog about our journey thru motherhood. The site is called 4sidesofmotherhood.blogspot.com so please check it out! I decided to start my own personal blog as well. I think this is actually a great way to update your friends and family on current events going on in your life. When I was pregnant and on bed rest I thought of starting a blog but of course I never did. I'm not really sure why but oh well that’s in the past.

So here’s our story.... Jody and I met in January 2005. The first night we saw each other was at a mutual friend’s house. My best friend Kelley and I had come over to hang out with some girlfriends of ours and we had been there maybe 30 minutes when these 3 or 4 guys showed up, Jody being one of them. We exchanged glances and were introduced and that was the end of that. Kelley and I were there for maybe another 30 minutes and we headed out. Kelley and I were always on the go!! So a few days passed and the weekend came and it was time for a night out. I believe the night started with Dinner with the girls and then coincidentally Jody and I ended up.... again..... At a mutual friends apartment. So this time I totally put myself out there. I was very flirty and pretty much talked his ear off. The night came to an end and the next morning Kelley, My sister and I were up early heading to Houston for the weekend. On the way there Jody sent Kelley a text message saying "Had a good time last night... Really liked your friend" WHAT?? OMG!! That is me!!! So as you can imagine I was super excited and couldn’t wait to get home! That week we got together and have been inseparable ever since!!

We got engaged a year later and then September 2006 we were MARRIED! Our wedding was absolutely beautiful!! All our family and friends were there and it couldn’t have been more perfect! After being married 2 months we got our first puppy. We named him Chevy but we call him Chevrolet! HAHA! We bought our first house in 2008 and that is when we got Bella our English bulldog.

In 2009 we decided that we wanted to have a baby. We said "we weren’t trying but not preventing" which really means YES we were trying. I didn’t think I would get pregnant so fast but OMG! Ya, it only took a month! My best friend Vanessa had just had her 1st son and I was an emotional basket case thru the whole delivery! She was like "are you sure your not pregnant?" I didn’t think I was because there was just no way that it would happen so fast. That weekend I took a test and it was negative. Well I just left it on the bathroom counter and went on about my day. The next morning Jody and I went and had breakfast and ran some errands. When we got home he was in the bathroom and noticed the test on the counter. He wasn’t sure what the results meant so he started digging in the trash for the box. I will never forget this....... I was standing on the patio playing with the dogs when he yelled from inside the house saying "ITS POSITIVE" I ran inside and was like shut up... I saw it yesterday and it was negative. I looked at it...... OMG IT’S POSITIVE! They say disregard after 10 minutes so I ran up to the store and got more tests..... 4 more later and they were ALL positive!!! We were so excited and kind of in shock! We couldn’t believe that it happened so quickly.

At 8 weeks I went to my first OB appointment and we heard our baby's heartbeat for the 1st time! It was 170 bpm and I immediately said it was a girl but over the course of the next 12 weeks I had made up my mind that it was a boy (Males are dominant in his family) At 20 weeks we went for our ultrasound and I kept saying he he he and the sono tech said why do say he? And I said because I’m 95% positive it’s a boy! She said Ummm..... Well I think you better change that He to a She! I was at a loss for words and immediately started crying! Tears of Joy of course!!! It seems like it took forever to figure out a name. We went back and forth with Lily Elizabeth because that is after our grandmothers but for some reason we couldn’t make it official. And then I heard the name Kinsley and fell in love!

At 27 weeks I was put on bed rest for being high risk for preterm labor. At 30 weeks I was admitted to the hospital for 3 weeks on hospital bed rest because they were REALLY worried about preterm labor. Let me tell you... that was HORRIBLE! The first week I was very scared about the baby and then I was home sick and pretty much cried every day. The next 2 weeks were ok. I look back at it now and it really wasn’t that big of a deal but going thru it was pretty hard. That was the best place for Kinsley and I to be in the event I did go into labor but being away from home for that long is just rough. But my mom visited me everyday and would stay for a few hours and when Jody got off work he would stay until he was ready for bed and sometimes he stayed all night. My sister and her boyfriend carved pumpkins so I would have Halloween decorations in my room. We even passed out candy to the nurses. LOL!! I had lots of visitors and that really helped the time go by fast.

I ended up getting released and I carried Kinsley another 5 weeks!!! We had a scheduled induction date for December 22 so I actually had a date to look forward to. On the 19th at like 4 am I woke up and felt as if my back was breaking. I couldn’t get comfortable and I sat in the bath tub for over an hour because that was the only comfort I could get. I finally was able to go back to sleep and when we woke up at like 10 I was still pretty uncomfortable. Jody said lets call the doctor and I kept putting it off because I had back pain my whole pregnancy because I carried Kinsley so low. And plus look at all the "False" labor incidents I had. So I decided to ride with him to Garland to drop off some work stuff and with in 20 minutes of being in the car, I had like 6 contractions 2-4 minutes apart. Like every man looks forward too..... Jody got his moment!!! He busted a U turn at 635 and Preston and he was going like 85 down the highway!! Safely of course!!! We got to the hospital at noon and sure enough I was in Labor, 4 1/2 cm. dilated and 100% effaced. I had Kinsley at 5:32 pm! She was the BEST Christmas present ever!!!!

Now the little LOVE of my life is almost 4 months old. So I will end this post here and all my other updates I’m sure will be about Miss K’s milestones and events going on in
The Blalock Family………. Till next time

Have a blessed day!
